Arguing for an extreme point—that only academics should be prioritized, or that extracurriculars should be put first—is completely unnecessary. Most people agree that students need to strike a balance between their studies and other activities for a more well-rounded university experience. There are numerous arguments for this view, and we don’t need to worry about the number of words. So, we just need to build two body paragraphs to address the necessity of both academics and extracurriculars respectively.

There is an ongoing debate about whether full-time university students should focus primarily on studying or balance their time with other activities. Though academic success is significant, I think that extracurricular activities are crucial to students’ overall growth.
In order to succeed academically and get knowledge in their chosen fields, university students must study intensively. Students who concentrate on their studies build a solid foundation that can boost their academic performance. Building expertise and confidence in one’s field of study requires achieving high grades and learning a great deal about it. Furthermore, for those who study hard, they can acquire time management and critical thinking skills that will help them in their future career. For example, students in demanding fields like engineering or medicine often need to spend considerable time on coursework and research to meet their program’s rigorous standards.
On the other hand, taking part in extracurriculars is just as important. Being involved in activities, like clubs, sports, or volunteer work, enables students to expand their horizons and develop new abilities. These kinds of activities can foster leadership, teamwork, and communication—all of which are advantageous for both professional and personal development. Non-academic pursuits also offer a break from learning, and that lowers stress and improves mental health. Actually, students who engage in a range of activities frequently report feeling more balanced and energized. This can eventually result in increased concentration and academic productivity.
To sum up, full-time university students can benefit more from striking a balance between their academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. This approach helps students get ready for life after college by fostering both academic achievement and personal development.
